I haven't been painting much in the last couple of months, but I have been watching lots of videos on painting. I have watched Richard McKinley and Bob Keeler, Maggie Price, and on and on. So when you look at my portfolio you may see a new style here and there. I have been trying new things, new ways of handling my pastels, of adding watercolor under paintings, and i'm trying to work on the whole "be bold with color' thing. LOL I really don't handle change well, even when I know its good for me.
I don't know about you, but change is hard for me, not because I fear it, but because it takes so much energy. And I'm afraid I am in very short supply of that right now. While I am working on change in my painting life, I have also been working on change in my physical life. I have been working very hard on eating organic and have joined an organic co-op in my town. We are just trying to eat lighter. Because of having to take so many steroids in the last year for my pain and for my lung problems, I have gained weight. I feel horrible! So, its back to learning (again) to watch my portions and just what I eat in general. I have a hard time walking, because of balance issues, but it is pool season again. Exercising in the pool is the best for me. So I plan on spending lots of time in the pool this summer. Of course I'm getting a late start, we had 20+ inches of rain here in a one month time period. It's been great for the lakes and water supply but really rough on my body. Anyway I challenge you to try something new this month, take a workshop, go outside to paint, go on a diet (misery loves company), get more exercise and just try something new. Be kind to your self and go have fun.
